Amelia, a native of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, has had a lifelong affinity for animals, a passion nurtured from her childhood years growing up amidst a diverse assortment of pets that included an Akita, labs, Pitties, rats, chickens, guinea pigs, rabbits, and hermit crabs. It was this early exposure that sparked her love for animals and often saw her convincing her mother that they needed to expand their pet family.

From a young age, Amelia was enamored with the world of veterinary medicine, viewing veterinarians as superheroes. Regular visits to the vet with her pets exposed her to this fascinating world, cementing her desire to join this noble profession. Throughout high school, Amelia spent considerable time riding horses, volunteering at an animal shelter, and pet sitting. At just 14, she had the opportunity to shadow a vet at a general practice, an experience that further solidified her career choice.

Amelia pursued her undergraduate studies at West Virginia University while working at the Avian Conservation Center of Appalachia, a wild bird rehabilitation center. Here, she had the opportunity to work with a variety of birds, including hawks, raptors, and eagles.

She is currently attending the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech, with an expected graduation in the spring of 2026. Her biggest motivation is her mother, who always wanted to be a doctor but didn’t get the chance to. Her mother’s unwavering support and encouragement, even during Amelia’s most challenging times in school, have been a driving force in her journey.

Amelia looks forward to her externship, where she aims to enhance her clinical skills, experience the fast-paced environment, and observe surgeries. In her spare time, Amelia enjoys spending time with friends, hiking, arts and crafts, thrifting, and horse riding. She also cherishes moments spent with her Pitbulls, Leila and Beatrice.
