Jessica comes to Craig Road Animal Hospital from Vancouver, Canada. She is taking part in our externship program while she is working towards her DVM. Jessica has worked with an array of animals including marine mammals, sea turtles, dogs, cats, and cows.
She recalls when she was younger, her six month old pet puppy had fallen into the pool and had almost drowned. “He spent three days in an oxygen cage, had pneumonia and was close to death,” she said. “The doctors were able to save him and he was able to come back home and live a happy, long life with us.” Jessica said that this moment changed her life and set her on a path to becoming a veterinary doctor.
Jessica envisions herself working at a small general practice back home. “I know everybody has a passion but I love what I do,” she said. “I enjoy every part of my job, I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else.”
The dog lover enjoys the outdoors, finding time to go hiking, skiing, scuba diving and snorkeling.
