Ukachi has always had an interest in taking care of animals. She knew from a young age that she wanted to work in the medical field so she decided to pair her passion and learning into a career in veterinary medicine.
The student joins Craig Road Animal Hospital as a D.V.M. extern all the way from Statesboro, Georgia. She would like to eventually join a small animal practice. She is anticipating to graduate from the University of Georgia in the spring of 2016. While many of her rounds as a student at UGA has given her an interest in dermatology, Ukachi still remains interested in general practice and medicine for dogs and cats. She said that she would love to eventually have her own practice.
Ukachi said that because an animal can’t necessarily speak up, owners should try to bring their pet in for professional care. “It’s important that people know the value of having a physician examine your pet on a regular basis,” she said. “Specifically preventative care as a focus. Detecting things before something happens and talking to a professional can save a lot of animals.”
Ukachi has a Siamese cat and a poodle waiting for her return back home.
