Meet Sarah, the newest extern to join the Craig Road Animal Hospital team!

Sarah is currently a 4th-year veterinary student at the University of Missouri (Mizzou) and will be graduating in May 2021. She’s originally from Franklin, Tennessee, a town located about an hour away from Nashville. Sarah said she’s wanted to be a veterinarian ever since she was 3-years-old, according to her mom at least.

“I think I fell in love with the field the first time we took our family dog to the vet and I got to see what it was all about,” Sarah said. “Over the years, I kept waiting for something else to interest me, but so far it’s been my one consistent dream.”

For a short period of time, Sarah thought about becoming a veterinary technician instead of a veterinarian. She attended Murray State University in Kentucky for her Bachelor’s and double majored in pre-veterinary medicine and the veterinary technician program so that she could choose which track she wanted to pursue. Sarah finished both degrees and was able to pass the VTNE licensing exam, but ultimately couldn’t shake her dream of going to vet school.

Sarah heard about Craig Road’s program through a talk held at Mizzou about the clinic.

“I’ve never been out West and always wanted to experience it, plus the program sounded like it had a great amount of hands on teaching,” she said. “I have a lot of interest in things like clinical pathology and dermatology, but ultimately want to be working at a small animal general practice.”

In her free time, Sarah loves taking walks with my two dogs, Honey and Cupid; reading; drawing; and watching movies.

Welcome to the team, Sarah!
