Please welcome Lindsey, the newest extern to join the Craig Road Animal Hospital team!
Lindsey is a third-year veterinary medical student at Purdue University and will graduate in May 2022. Lindsey is from Ann Arbor, Michigan, and has been a life-long lover of science and animals. She said she shadowed an animal clinic in her hometown as a veterinary assistant, and that made her fully realize she wanted to go into animal medicine.
“I just couldn’t see myself doing anything else because there’s such a variety of options of what you can do,” Lindsey said. “You can work on the teeth, help deliver puppies, there’s internal medicine, so there’s just so much you can do in animal medicine.”
After graduating from high school, Lindsey attended Michigan State University where she received her Bachelors in Zoology. During her undergrad, Lindsey assisted with an animal research project in the Galapagos Islands. She’s also interned with the Humane Society and taught science classes as part of an outreach program that exposed elementary school kids to veterinary medicine.
She heard about the externship program through a friend who also externed at Craig Road, and from a career fair at Purdue where she got more information about the program. Lindsey said she’s looking forward to working in a large, general practice and seeing things she’s never seen before, such as laparoscopic spays.
This is also Lindsey’s first time visiting Las Vegas, and she said she’s also excited to explore the Las Vegas area as much as she can during her externship.
“I’ve always been in the Midwest, so it’s really cool being somewhere else!” she said. Lindsey added that she enjoys all fields of animal medicine, and pictures herself working as a small animal general practitioner in veterinary medicine one day.
In her spare time, Lindsey enjoys spending time with her friends and family, exercising, and going outdoors.
Welcome to the team, Lindsey!
