Meet Alison, the newest extern at Craig Road Animal Hospital!

Hailing from New Orleans, Louisiana, Alison knew she wanted to be a veterinarian ever since she was 5-years-old. After graduating high school, she enrolled in the Pre-Veterinarian program at Louisiana State University. She graduated with a Bachelor’s in Animal Science and is currently a fourth-year student at LSU’s School of Veterinary Medicine.

During her undergrad, Alison volunteered at a cat rescue in Baton Rouge and was a Student Ambassador for PetSmart’s Charities. She’s also helped spay and neuter dozens of cats during her time at LSU.

“We did a lot of programs at the shelters, and a lot of fundraising,” Alison said.

Alison is interested in dog, cat, and small animal medicine. She’s also interested in internal medicine and soft tissue surgery and is working on getting certified in pet acupuncture. Alison said she learned about the externship program at Craig Road during a school program and didn’t wait to apply. She’s curious to see the ins and outs of a private practice.

“It’s definitely a different pace than we have at school,” Alison said. “Things are a lot faster, so I’m excited to get into that environment.”

In her spare time, Alison enjoys kayaking with her dog Chop, visiting New Orleans, and seeing live music. She also has two cats named Cleo and Noodle.

Welcome to the team, Alison!
