Welcome our newest extern at Craig Road Animal Hospital: Gabby!
Originally from Grosse Ile, Michigan, Gabby wanted to stay close to home when considering her future. She decided to enroll at Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Gabby received a degree in Anthropology from the University of Michigan. She briefly considered human medicine, but Gabby knew wanted to work with pets. “I like both people and animals alike. Bridging the communication between pet and owner is really rewarding.”
Gabby was drawn to Craig Road Animal Hospital because of the size, how it offers accommodation, and all the recommendations from previous externs. “I want to learn the variety of veterinary medicine based on location,” she said, “there are things I would learn out here that I wouldn’t learn in Michigan, like snakebite treatment.”
Gabby hopes to build relationships with her patients. “I want to know that when I walk into a room, I am making a difference.” She would love to watch them grow, helping them live long and healthy lives.
Sebastian and Bonnie are Gabby’s family two senior Pomeranians. “I am obsessed with them, we do everything together.” Having only ever been surrounded by dogs, Gabby hopes to one day have a cat.
Outside of her passion for animals, Gabby enjoys working with the community. “…I’ve done sustainability gardens and mentorships in Detroit,” she said “I feel like it is an amazing way to get to know people.”
