Hunter grew up in central Louisiana in the town of Alexandrea.
He fell in love with his parents first dog, and has always leaned more towards animals than people. “People gross me out,” says Hunter with a smile. “I like science so I figured veterinary medicine was for me.” He received a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Louisiana Tech University and during this time also volunteered at several local animal hospitals. Hunter is currently completing his final year of his doctorate of veterinary medicine at Louisiana State University.
Hunter heard about the externship program at Craig Road Animal Hospital through word of mouth at school. “Two of my friends from the class of 2017 had already been to Craig Road and had great experience,” says Hunter. “And as I progressed through school people kept talking up the externship program.” Hunter is interested in integrated and internal medicine. “I’m almost done with school and I want to get more confidence, he said. “I’m looking forward to putting into practice what I have learned.”
In his spare time, Hunter likes to be active and to cook. He has played some college baseball and he loves to take his Staffordshire Terrier / Chow-Chow / Standard Poodle / Labrador mix dog; Asher, for walks.
