Please welcome Cassandra, the newest extern at Craig Road Animal Hosptial!

Cassandra, born and raised in North Carolina, always loved animals. However, it wasn’t until a vet visit for her dog did the idea of becoming one herself began to appeal to her. The vet caring for Cassandra’s dog spoke to her about what was happening to her pet and was very reassuring while doing so. Cassandra hopes to have that same, soothing, affect on her own clients someday.

For her undergrad, Cassandra attended Western Carolina state and currently attends North Carolina state. She is set to graduate later this year. During her time in school and even a little before, she spent a lot of her time volunteering at the Asheboro Zoo and at local shelters. “There was a clinic I volunteered at where they only treated cats. I have a soft spot for cats,” she says.

Cassandra learned about the externship program at Craig Road Animal Hospital from Mike Falconer, the Hospital Administrator, during a conference he held at her school. While here, she wants to learn tips and tricks from the senior doctors. Over time, she wants to incorporate those techniques into her own treatment methods. In addition, she’s particularly excited about getting more hands-on experience.

When Cassandra’s not studying, she loves to go hiking. While here in Las Vegas, she hopes to visit the many national parks and hiking trails found here. At home, she cares for two cats named Belle and Bean. While 5-year-old Belle is a cautious cat and prefers to keep to herself, her two-year-old brother, Bean, is an adventurous, playful, loving being.

Welcome to the team, Cassandra! We’re happy to have you here!
