Born in Ashland, Oregon, Sydney spent her first five years there before moving to West Hollywood, California, where she grew up. Her love for animals started early when she got her first dog at age 10 and was that kid who always had animal facts ready to share. Living near an aquarium with a family membership only fueled her curiosity; she visited often and proudly returned to school eager to teach her classmates everything she’d learned. Combined with Sydney’s natural strength in the sciences, her parents encouraged her to pursue veterinary medicine.
In high school, Sydney completed an animal science track that required 100 hours of experience. She worked as a kennel assistant, spent time in shelters, and later became a receptionist at a veterinary hospital, gaining early exposure to the field.
During undergrad, she worked at a farm rescue and, after COVID, spent two years at the California Wildlife Center. She started as a volunteer, transitioned into an intern role, and eventually became a seasonal technician. Her time there, especially her work with birds, solidified her passion for wildlife medicine.
She is currently a veterinary student with an expected graduation year of 2027.
This is her first time visiting Las Vegas as an adult, and she’s excited to explore museums, discover the city, and take advantage of the nearby hiking spots. During her externship, she looks forward to gaining more surgical experience and expanding her skill set.
In her free time, she enjoys hiking, gaming, and arts and crafts.
