Stevie, born and raised in Las Vegas, grew up surrounded by pets including a dog, multiple rabbits, and two bearded dragons. Her passion for veterinary medicine was inspired by watching Animal Planet and her experiences with her own pets.
A pivotal moment came at age 14 when her childhood dog was attacked by a neighbor’s Pitbull. Feeling helpless during this incident solidified her decision to become a veterinarian, driven by a desire to help both animals and their owners in similar situations.
Her journey in veterinary medicine began with volunteer work at the Animal Foundation, a specialty center, and the Doggy District through the National Honors Society. Despite initial challenges finding work at animal hospitals, a fortuitous connection through a neighbor led to a kennel attendant position, which she held for four years. She also gained valuable experience volunteering at Desert Pines Equine during summers.
Stevie completed her Bachelor of Science degree at UNLV in December 2021.
During this externship, she is particularly interested in general practice operations, assisting with dental procedures, and learning more about basic veterinary care.
Outside of her veterinary pursuits, Stevie enjoys painting, listening to records, hiking, and spending time at the lake with her family.
