As she grew older, the loss of a few beloved pets fueled her curiosity about the causes of their passing and deepened her desire to understand the complexities of animal health. These experiences solidified her commitment to becoming a veterinarian, driven by the belief that she could make a difference in the lives of animals.
In high school, Stephanie began volunteering at a general practice, gaining valuable experience and insight into the veterinary field. Her passion led her to Texas A&M University, where she pursued her undergraduate studies. During her time there, she particularly enjoyed a wildlife safari course. After graduating in 2019, Stephanie worked at a low-cost veterinary clinic and later at a 24-hour emergency hospital.
In 2022, Stephanie’s hard work paid off when she was accepted into Western University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, where she is expected to graduate in 2026.
During her externship, she is eager to improve her skills in reading blood work, ultrasounds, and x-rays, and she’s looking forward to gaining more confidence in surgery, particularly in suture removal and cystostomies. Additionally, Stephanie is excited about the opportunity to work with exotic animals.
Outside of her veterinary pursuits, Stephanie enjoys traveling the world, capturing stunning photographs, and working on cars—she even builds show cars. Her grandparents, who raised her for most of her life, are her greatest motivators. At 92 years old, they have always wanted her to become a doctor, and Stephanie is determined to make them proud by walking across the graduation stage and fulfilling their dream.
