Originally from Los Angeles, California, Sara grew up surrounded by animals of all kinds. From dogs and cats to birds, fish, turtles, chickens, and hamsters, animals were a constant part of her childhood and sparked a lifelong appreciation for their care. Today, she shares her home with a cat named Henry and a dog named Jo, continuing the love of animals that first inspired her career path.
Sara has known she wanted to become a veterinarian since she was a child. Growing up with so many animals ignited her passion, and that interest only deepened as she began volunteering at animal shelters and later working in general practice. She was drawn to veterinary medicine because it combines her love of problem-solving with the opportunity to strengthen the human-animal bond by helping pets live healthier lives while building meaningful relationships with their owners.
She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Davis before continuing her veterinary education at Western University of Health Sciences.
Sara is currently a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine student at Western University of Health Sciences and anticipates graduating in May 2028.
Having visited Las Vegas once before, Sara is excited to return for her externship. She learned about the V.O.S. externship through fellow Western University students and was especially drawn to the opportunity to work closely with experienced veterinarians through one-on-one mentorship.
During this externship, Sara is focused on expanding her knowledge and confidence in anesthesia and pharmacology while continuing to strengthen her clinical reasoning skills. She has a particular interest in oncology, general practice, and internal medicine and is considering pursuing a rotating internship after graduation as she continues to explore her long-term career path.
Outside of the hospital, Sara enjoys reading, binge-watching television shows, taking walks, swimming, going on picnics, and attending concerts.
