Originally from Washburn, North Dakota, Madison had a unique path to veterinary medicine. Unlike many in the field, she didn’t grow up with pets – her family got their first dog only after she graduated high school. However, her connection to animals developed through regular visits to family farms, where she fell in love with cows and horses.
During her undergraduate years at North Dakota State University, Madison’s passion for veterinary medicine crystallized during a summer internship as a Zoo Keeper. While there, she had the opportunity to shadow the zoo veterinarian, including an unforgettable experience helping monitor vitals during a tiger surgery. This exposure sparked her deep interest in exotic animal medicine.
After graduating from North Dakota State University in 2021, Madison began working as a veterinary assistant at a clinic specializing in small animals and pocket pets.
She then started vet school at Midwestern University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, where she continued her assistant work during her first year. Between her second and third year, she participated in the Banfield mentorship program. She is now on track to graduate in June 2025.
During her externship, Madison is eager to gain hands-on experience and learn how veterinarians practice medicine here in Vegas.
While in the city, she’s looking forward to exploring the Strip. When not focused on veterinary medicine, she spends time with her Australian shepherd mix, Bryan, and enjoys exploring new places, trying different restaurants, crocheting, reading, and watching movies.
