Kelsey Kolb grew up in La Cañada Flintridge, a suburb in Los Angeles County, California. From a young age, she developed a love for animals and science, which ultimately inspired her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Growing up, her family had a house cat named Spunky, and when she turned eight years old she adopted a Ball Python named Desert, whom she still has today.
Kelsey always knew she wanted to work in a science-related field, but her passion for veterinary medicine became clear during her undergraduate years when she had the opportunity to speak with a zoo veterinarian. Learning how diverse and expansive the veterinary profession could be motivated her to pursue the field wholeheartedly.
She earned her undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Kelsey is expected to graduate in May 2026.
Kelsey is particularly interested in small animal general practice and surgery, with additional interest in exotics. She hopes to continue expanding her surgical and dental skills through continuing education after graduation so she can offer a wider range of procedures to her patients and clients.
Outside of veterinary medicine, Kelsey enjoys staying active and spending time outdoors. She enjoys hiking, snowboarding, and learning to golf. She also loves exploring new places and trying great food with friends.
Kelsey has visited Las Vegas many times over the years, originally competing here as a gymnast and cheerleader. With her parents recently relocating to the area, she now spends even more time in Las Vegas and plans to move here after graduation to begin her veterinary career.
