Kayla is originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, where her passion for veterinary medicine began in high school. Her interest was sparked by her family dog, a rescue her grandfather found in a rural area. The dog suffered from severe parasites and skin disease, conditions Kayla didn’t understand at the time. Seeing her local veterinarian restore the dog to full health left a lasting impression and inspired her to pursue a future in animal care.
In high school, Kayla attended an early college program at NC State University. As part of the curriculum, she completed a month-long internship that gave her her first true behind-the-scenes look at veterinary medicine, solidifying her desire to enter the field.
She went on to attend North Carolina A&T State University, where she earned her degree in Laboratory Animal Science in 2020. Throughout her undergrad years, she volunteered at an animal shelter during summers and gained extensive hands-on experience—primarily with large animals such as goats, sheep, pigs, and cattle.
After graduating, Kayla returned home to Raleigh and worked for two years at a veterinary hospital. There, she received surgical technician training and discovered her love for surgery, shaping her career ambitions even further.
Kayla is currently a veterinary student, graduating on May 9, 2026.
This is her first time visiting Las Vegas, and she is excited to explore the Strip, see shows, and experience everything the city has to offer. During her externship, she hopes to become more efficient with veterinary paperwork and enhance her workflow skills.
In her free time, Kayla enjoys relaxing with Netflix, taking her dog for walks, and attending Zumba classes.
