Originally from Prince George’s County, Maryland, Jamie grew up with cats, though her family’s pets were limited since her mom is allergic to animals. Even so, she always knew from a young age that she loved animals and dreamed of becoming a veterinarian.
As a child, Jamie volunteered at shelters, which deepened her passion for animal care. Once she began her undergraduate studies in animal science, she felt confident she was exactly where she was meant to be. Her first real hands-on experience came during undergrad when she completed a horse externship at a rehabilitation center.
After graduating from Virginia Tech in 2019, she worked as a technician at a clinic throughout COVID, gaining invaluable skills before starting veterinary school. Jamie is currently studying at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine and is expected to graduate in 2027.
This is her first time in Las Vegas, and she is excited to explore everything the city has to offer. During this externship, she looks forward to gaining more hands-on experience, observing surgeries, and refining her technical skills, including blood draws and catheter placement.
Her career interests include government and animal welfare, though she plans to begin in general practice to build a strong foundation of knowledge.
In her spare time, Jamie enjoys watching reality TV, reading, craft nights with friends, walking her dog, and boxing.
