Introducing Makenzie, the newest extern to join the Craig Road Animal Hospital team!
Makenzie is currently a 4th-year veterinary student at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine and will graduate in May 2021. She grew up in Dublin, Ohio and has always wanted to be a veterinarian ever since she was a kid. Makenzie said she’s never been able to imagine herself doing anything else.
“I think it’s really cool that we not only get to work with animals, but with people too,” she said.
Makenzie received her Bachelor’s of Science from Western Kentucky University and was also on the women’s soccer team. She chose to go to Auburn for vet school right after she graduated. Makenzie heard about the externship program at Craig Road from a student at Auburn who had went a couple of years ago and he highly recommended the program. Makenzie said she also wanted to visit a different part of the country and learn from as many veterinarians as she could.
Makenzie is interested in surgery, preventative care, dentistry, ultrasound, and shelter medicine. In her spare time, she likes being outside, traveling, watching Netflix, and being with her family and friends. She has two cats named Lyla and Bronny.
