Exams and Consultations

The doctors and staff at Craig Road Animal Hospital take pride in the compassionate, high quality care that we provide for you and your pet. Our doctors provide thorough physical examinations to check for potential problems. Examinations are advised twice a year to best monitor your pet’s health. Annual diagnostics, vaccinations, and parasite testing are important to ensure your pet stays healthy. During your pet’s examination, it is vital that you alert our health care team of any abnormalities or behavioral changes you have noticed. Some behaviors or signs of illness are not apparent in the hospital setting, but are easily noted in the home environment. We also offer on call emergency care 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. 7 days a week, 365 days a year. For any emergencies after midnight we will direct you to our partner Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. For your convenience, you will still be able to pick up your pet and check out at Craig Road. In order to prepare the best care for your pet, we will not move any patients back to Craig Road if they are in a critical condition.

Health Certificates and International Health Certificates

Planning on flying to another state or another country with your furry friend?  Many states and countries have different requirements for travel. Laboratory testing may be required, and it may take from a few days to several months to obtain test results. Health certificates are usually required for all air travel and are only valid for 10 days from the date of issue for the outgoing flight and 30 days for the returning flight.  Each airline has its own regulations and you should always check with them before you travel. When traveling out of the country or to Hawaii, there are often specific requirements and may require planning far in advance. It is always best to contact the destination or country for their requirements when traveling with pets. For additional information visit www.aphis.usda.gov.

Breeding Consultations

Interested in breeding your dogs?  Breeding management services are available for both male and female dogs. Common tests we recommend for breeding dogs include Brucella testing, sperm evaluation, cycle and ovulation timing.   For dogs that need further assistance in becoming pregnant we also offer artificial insemination with fresh or fresh chilled semen.  Think your pet is already pregnant? We have quality ultrasound and digital radiology that allow us to evaluate the status of your pet’s pregnancy and number of puppies or kittens to expect.
