Say “hello” to Stephanie, the newest extern at Craig Road Animal Hospital!
She grew up in various communities around Colorado, including Fort Collins and Colorado Springs. Originally, Stephanie didn’t decide to become a veterinarian until her late 20s. She had been working as an officer in the Air Force but felt it was time for a career change.
Stephanie attended the University of Portland in Oregon, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. She went on to attend Colorado State Univesity [CSU] where she obtained her Master’s in Biomedical Sciences. She’s about to enter her third year of veterinary school at CSU.
“I was a part-time vet assistant at a small animal hospital, and I did a little bit with horse dentistry,” Stephanie said of her volunteer experience. Stephanie heard about the externship program from a fellow classmate and hopes to gain more hands-on, clinical experience during her externship at Craig Road Animal Hospital.
“I’m really interested in neurology and internal medicine,” Stephanie said.
In her spare time, she enjoys hiking and spending time with her son and husband. Stephanie owns a 2-year-old Great Pyrenees named Mabel.
