Meet Leah, the newest extern at Craig Road Animal Hospital!

Hailing from the City of Brotherly Love, Leah always knew that she wanted to be a veterinarian. Growing up, she volunteered at various vet clinics in the Philadelphia area, shadowing doctors and learning about animal medicine.

Currently, Leah is a third-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine student at the University of Missouri and has volunteered at two more veterinary clinics while at Mizzou.

“I really enjoy getting the hands-on experience,” she said. “It’s nice to get actual experience outside of the classroom and professors.” Leah also said she’s thinking of going into general practice or emergency services after she graduates.

Leah heard about the externship program at Craig Road from other vet students at Mizzou who were former externs themselves.

“Everyone I spoke to about the program said they loved it!” she said.

In her downtime, Leah enjoys reading, watching movies, and hiking around Missouri. She has a dog named Chance, whom she describes as “a 50-pound ball of energy.”

Welcome aboard, Leah!
