Meet Sienna, the newest extern at Craig Road Animal Hospital!

A Las Vegas native, Sienna is currently a fourth-year Veterinary student at Colorado State University [CSU]. Sienna said she’s wanted to become a veterinarian since she was a young girl. She received her Bachelor’s from the University of California, Davis [UC Davis] with the intention of going to veterinary school. While at Colorado State, Sienna worked at various shelters and researched improving the lives of shelter animals.

“We do a lot of infectious disease work, and also preventative medicine,” she said.

Sienna is a Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education [WICHE] student, which means she has to return and work in Nevada for four years after completing her education at CSU. The program pays the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition in certain fields of study.

“I’m so excited to be back in Las Vegas, and I’m so excited to see all the different hospitals in Las Vegas, and I’ve heard such good things about Craig Road,” Sienna said. She heard about the externship program from a student representative at Colorado State who highly praised the program.

According to Sienna, she is passionate about all fields of animal medicine; she’s yet to find a specialty she doesn’t enjoy. Sienna said she wants to keep exploring and find out more about the things she’s interested in.

In her spare time, Sienna enjoys playing soccer, snowboarding, trail running, and exploring the beer culture in Colorado. She’s the proud mother of a cat named Bean who traveled with her to Las Vegas for her externship.

Welcome to the team, Sienna!
